The spokesperson of CR’s Passenger Transport Department stated that in recent years, the group has attached great importance to organizing and operating tourist trains to Xinjiang. From 2018 to 2022, a total of 449 tourist trains from all over the country traveled to Xinjiang, carrying 284,100 passengers to the region. Xinjiang has become the most concentrated destination for tourist train operations in the past five years. As of now, various provinces and regions have operated 55 dedicated tourist trains to Xinjiang this year, carrying 44,000 passengers. In Xinjiang, 100 dedicated tourist trains have been operated, serving 47,600 tourists. Tourist trains to Xinjiang have played an important role in promoting the development of Xinjiang’s tourism and other characteristic advantage industries, facilitating exchanges and interactions among different ethnic groups, consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation, and advancing rural revitalization.
The “Jinghe Express” is a themed tourist train brand created by CR-Beijing in response to the need to support Xinjiang. Since its launch in 2015, it has achieved significant social benefits and influence. Its poverty alleviation cases have been included in the “WTA Best Practice in Poverty Alleviation Through Tourism.” The operation of the “Jinghe Express” tourist train has built a friendship bridge spanning over 4,200 kilometers from Beijing to Hotan in Xinjiang.
