On August 31, with the departure of Train G55501 from Fuzhounan Railway Station, the Fuzhou-Xiamen-Zhangzhou High Speed Railway officially entered its trial operation phase, marking the countdown to its full-line opening and operation.

The Fuzhou-Xiamen-Zhangzhou High Speed Railway starts from Fuzhou City, passes through Putian City and Quanzhou City, and extends to Xiamen City and Zhangzhou City in the south. At its northern terminus, it connects with the Hefei-Fuzhou High Speed Railway and Wenzhou-Fuzhou Railway. At its southern terminus, it links to the Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway and Longyan-Xiamen Railway. The total length of the railway is 277.42 kilometers, making it China’s first cross-sea high speed railway designed for a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is expected to be ready for line opening and operation within this year.

The Fuzhou-Xiamen-Zhangzhou High Speed Railway is an essential part of China’s “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high speed railway network along the coastal corridor. Once the line is completed and operational, Fuzhou and Xiamen will form a “one-hour living circle,” while Xiamen, Zhangzhou, and Quanzhou will establish a “half-hour transportation circle.” This will create a “golden tourism belt” connecting the cities in the southeastern coastal urban cluster. The railway holds significant importance in serving the “Belt and Road” initiative and promoting the high-quality development of the southeastern coastal urban cluster.
